Uddhav Gita Final Conversation of Shri Krishna - Uddhav Question to Lord Krishna
Uddhav Gita's Conversation Final Teaching of Lord Krishna in Mahabharata |
Introduction - Krishna and Uddhava Conversation
The Gita is not a religious document but an allegorical philosophical dialogue between a teacher and a student. It is said that when you read or listen to Uddhav Gita, you experience two lives within one life. The first life is life with its joys, sorrows, and challenges. The second life is a life filled with love, peace, and wisdom. Reading Gita challenges your mind, heart, and soul. Its timeless wisdom helps you gain an understanding of the universe and your place within it. Gita tells us how to approach life and the various challenges and situations we face in our lives. It not only teaches us how to live a happy, harmonious, healthy, and meaningful life but also tells us how to face death with grace and dignity.
What is written in Uddhava Gita?
This is the knowledge that Lord Krishna imparted to Uddhava, which later came to be known as Uddhava Gita. The Uddhava Gita is said to be the last teaching of Shri Krishna, where Uddhava questions lord Krishna about dharma, bhakti & devotion. It differs somewhat from the Bhagavad Gita (BG) in both its tone and aspects of its philosophy.
The world is well aware of the episode of Krishna and his devotee Arjuna in the famous Bhagavad Gita, which inspired many people throughout history.
But few are familiar with the Uddhava Gita where Krishna had a conversation with one of his other devotees, Uddhava, who spent many years at Krishna's side and there to talk with Krishna and see his final moments on earth.
What is the difference between Uddhav Gita and Bhagwat Gita?
While the Bhagavad Gita focuses more on dharma - the right action - the Uddhav Gita focuses more on bhakti - devotion. The beauty is that both point to the same source in their own unique way that speaks differently to each reader.
Uddhav Gita is a must for true spiritual aspirants who thrive on the ancient and rich spiritual.
Story Of Uddhava – Friend Of Sri Krishna
Who was Uddhava in Mahabharata?
Uddhav was the minister of Yadavas in Dwapar Yuga. He learned the science of politics from Brihaspati (Jupiter). He was a learned monotheist and a great devotee of the formless omnipresent Brahma. Uddhava was a devotee and dear friend of Krishna. Even when Krishna came to Mathura from Gokul, he could not forget Nanda, Yashoda, and the Gopis The love of the Gopis and the affection of Yashoda were always etched in his memories.
Once, Krishna called Uddhava and asked him to go to Gokul and impart knowledge to the Gopis who were troubled by Krishna's separation, and to console Nanda and Yashoda. The reason behind sending Uddhav to Gokul was to make him understand that true love is devotion. Though he was learned and knowledgeable, he never realized the power of Bhakti.
He came to know about this only when he met the Gopis, who were simple, not educated but truly devoted to Krishna in every sense. The devotion and deep love of the Gopis for Lord Krishna have presented a unique path of spiritual liberation that is not bound by any philosophy or intellectual knowledge. Such was his longing for the Lord that he was unable to bear the pain of separation when Lord Krishna left for Mathura from Gokul.
Uddhava reached Mathura and explained to the Gopis, "Krishna, with His soul, is always with you. He is away from you by His body because you can remember Him with a pure mind and attain Him." Uddhava explained to Nanda-Yashoda, "Krishna has taken birth to destroy the demons and establish dharma, and for this, he has to go to Mathura. He has not forgotten you, although he has stayed away from you to perform his duties." He has to stay away from you.” Thus by preaching to the Gopis and consoling Nanda-Yashoda, he came to Mathura.
When Krishna went to Dwarka, Uddhav also accompanied him. He had learned from his knowledge that the time had come for the destruction of Yaduvanshi (Yadav family). Then, he warned Krishna that the Yadavas would fight among themselves because of the curse of sage Kanva. The curse of a sage cannot go in vain.
But he shouldn't be bothered or upset by it. He must accept this as his destiny. Shri Krishna remembered his devotee and learned the advice of his dear friend Uddhav till the end. After Krishna left for Vaikuntha Loka (heavenly abode), Uddhava remained troubled for several days and wandered around Mathura on the banks of river Yamuna.
There he goes to heaven only in old age. Krishna wrote a statement to Uddhava: "After I leave this mortal world, Uddhava will take care of the knowledge imparted by me because he is no less than me in quality."
Uddhav Gita Final Teaching of Lord Krishna - Uddhav Questions to Lord Krishna
Uddhav had served many services to Lord Krishna since childhood. He also used to drive Krishna's chariot. He never asked for any benefit or favor from Krishna.
At the end of his career at Dwapara Yuga, Krishna told Uddhava, “In this incarnation of mine (Avtar), Many have sought and received benefits and boons. However, you never asked for anything. Ask now. I want to finish my work by doing good for you. "
Although Uddhava did not want anything from him, the way Krishna behaved, which he had seen since childhood, seemed confusing, the words and deeds were different. He wanted to get an explanation from him for this. “Lord, your counsel on how to live, and how to live is one.
The role you played, and the work you did in the Mahabharata play, there are some things I don't understand. I would like to know their meaning. Would you be kind enough to clarify? "
Lord Krishna said
Hey "Uddhav, what I have spoken to Arjuna on the battlefield is Bhagavad Gita. What I am going to speak to you about now is Uddhav Gita. I just created this opportunity for you. Ask without hesitation."
Uddhav began, “First I need an explanation. You were a great friend of the Pandavas. He trusted you completely as a friend in need. Not only in the present but also in the future, could religion prevent you from engaging in dice as an example of the definition of a good friend who preached? why didn't you do that?
Let it happen. Once the game started, you could make religion prevail and teach cunning people a lesson. You don't do that either. Religion lost its wealth, its empire, and itself.
As punishment for gambling, he could have survived. You could have entered the assembly by putting his brothers on a stake. You don't do that either.
Uddhav asked Krishna,
When Draupadi was almost losing her modesty,
Then you claimed to save Draupadi's modesty by giving her clothes!

But how can you even make that claim?
A man drags her to the assembly, in front of so many cunning people! He touches her and tries removing her saree
What's a woman's modesty was left? what did you save?
If you did not help your loved ones in times of crisis, how can you be called a true friend??
Tell me, what is the use if you do not help in a time of crisis?
Is this religion?"
Asking these questions, Uddhav's throat became tight and tears started flowing from his eyes.
These are not the questions of Uddhav alone. These questions arise in everyone's mind while reading the Mahabharata!
Uddhav asked the above questions to Shri Krishna on our behalf.
Lord Krishna smiled and said-
"Dear Uddhava, it is the law of the universe that only the prudent wins.
At that time Duryodhana had a conscience, Dharmaraja did not.
This was the reason why Dharmaraja was defeated."
Seeing Uddhav puzzled, Krishna further said - "Duryodhana had a lot of money and money to gamble, but he did not know how to play the game of dice, so he used his maternal uncle Shakuni for gaming. This is wisdom. Dharmaraja Could have thought the same way and offered to his cousin that I would play on his behalf.
Just think who would have won if Shakuni and I had played?
Do the numbers of the dice come according to him or to me?
Let this thing go. He can be forgiven for not including me in the game.
But he made another big mistake out of prudence! And that's it - they begged me not to come into the hall until I was called!
Because they wanted to play the game hiding from me due to their misfortune.
They didn't want me to know they were gambling!
Thus he bound me with his prayer! I was not allowed to enter the assembly!
Even after this, I was waiting outside the courtroom to see when someone would call me! Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva all forgot me! Just keep cursing your luck and Duryodhana!
On the orders of her brother, when Dusashan dragged Draupadi by the hair and brought her to the hall, Draupadi struggled to the best of her ability!
Even then she didn't call me!
Her intellect was awakened when Dussashan began to disarm her!
When he left his dependence on-
'Hari, Hari, Abhayam Krishna, Abhayam'-
Then I got an opportunity to protect his modesty.
As soon as I was called, I reached out immediately. Now tell me my mistake in this situation?"
Uddhav said-
"Kanha Your explanation is certainly impressive, but I am not completely satisfied!
May I ask one more question?"
With the permission of Krishna, Uddhav asked-
"It means that you will come only when you are called? Will, you not come automatically to help your devotee who is in trouble?"
Krishna smiled.
"Uddhava, the life of each one in this universe is governed by the result of one's own actions.
I neither run it nor do I interfere with it.
I am only a 'witness.
I always watch what is happening by staying close to you.
This is the religion of God."
"Wow-wow, very good Krishna! So does this mean that you will continue to observe all our misdeeds by standing near us?"
We will continue to sin over sin, and you will continue to watch us as witnesses?
What do you want us to keep forgetting? Keep tying the bundle of sin and bear the fruits of it?" asked Uddhava, scoffing!
Then Krishna said - "Uddhava, you understand the deep meaning of the words."
When you understand and feel that I am near you every moment as a witness, will you be able to do anything wrong or bad?
You certainly can't do anything bad.
When you forget this and start to understand that you can do anything by hiding from me,
only then do you get into trouble?
Learning
Worship and prayer to God is a mental request for help, isn't it? when faith is in the majority
Nothing could move but his will, could one not feel his apparent presence as a witness?
Like traffic, without attention? The Lord had propagated this principle only in the Bhagavad Gita.
Although he drove Arjuna's chariot, he did not take Arjuna's place and did not fight with him. He is the eternal witness.
If you know that God is in all of us, all around us, omniscient and omnipresent in both of us, then we cannot do anything, nothing is wrong.
Uddhava Gita on Devotion
In the case of a devoted person who is free from all worldly desires and who is devoted to heart and soul to Me (Krishna), I shine in his heart as he does. The joy that comes from this experience is something that intelligent creatures will never see.
I (Krishna) always follow in the footsteps of an aspiring scholar, who always has peace and enmity and unity, so that all the worlds within Me may be cleansed of the dust of their feet.
Although a devotee to Me may be subject to emotions at the beginning of his spiritual life, with a little growth of devotion, He can overcome them.
Just as a blazing fire reduces all fuel to ashes, so devotion to Me destroys all the sins that hinder its growth.
I can be found in strong faith unwavering devotion and wholehearted devotion. A strong and steadfast devotion to Me purifies and elevates even the most disrespectful man born in society.
He who transcends the good and evil of material things automatically acts following religious precepts and protects the forbidden works. A person who has seen it happen spontaneously, as an innocent child, not because he thinks of good and bad things.
The One who is kind to all living beings, peaceful and firmly rooted in knowledge and fulfillment, sees me in all things. Such a person does not fall into the cycle of birth and death.
Often those people who are not able to technically analyze the real situation of material things can magnify themselves beyond the irrational life of material satisfaction.
Just as a fish, driven by the desire to enjoy its tongue, is trapped by death in the skin of a fisherman, so a foolish person suffers from the most disturbing desires of the tongue and is thus corrupted.
Materialism is undoubtedly the cause of great unhappiness, and being free from that desire is the source of great happiness.
Accepting the wisdom in Me (Sri Krishna) creates mental balance, and the complete discipline of the senses is self-control.
Tolerance means enduring unhappiness with patience, and tension occurs when a person overcomes the tongue and genitals.
The greatest compassion is to stop all the attacks on others, and to give up passion is understood as a real difficulty.
True heroism is overcoming the natural tendency of man to enjoy material life, and the reality is to see the Supreme Personality of God everywhere.
To be truthful is to speak the truth in a way that pleases God, as proclaimed by the great sages.
Hygiene is an organization in the fiery activities, and disposal is the order of the sannyasa life.
The most desirable real treasure for people is religion, and I, the Supreme Personality, am a sacrifice.
The religious reward is devotion to Acharya to receive spiritual education, and the greatest power is the pranayama spirit control system.
Since fire is distinguished by fragments of wood of various sizes and qualities, the almighty Almighty, having come into the body of high and low forms of life formed by His own power, seems to take ownership of each object.
The various stages of a person's life, from birth to death, are all physical and do not affect the soul, just as the rising and falling of the moon do not affect the moon itself. Such changes are aggravated by the invisible movement of time.
Though reflected in various features, the sun is not separated, nor does it appear in appearance. Only those with a blunt brain can imagine the sun in this way. Similarly, although the soul is expressed in various forms, the soul remains separate and distinct.
The doors of freedom are wide open for one who has achieved human life. But if a person is already committed to family life, he will be considered a person who has climbed to the highest point only to tear and fall.
Uddhava Gita on the qualities of an educated person
A holy person is compassionate and never harms others. Even when others are angry, he is patient and forgives all who are alive. His power and purpose in life come from the truth itself, he is free from all envy and jealousy, and his mind is balanced with joy and anxiety.
His wisdom is not blinded by mere sentiment, and he controls his emotions.
His behavior is always pleasant, never harsh, and always exemplary, and he is free to have things.
He never tries to get involved in mundane, worldly activities, and he strictly controls his diet. So he stays calm and strong.
He has conquered more than six visible qualities - hunger, thirst, weeping, deceit, old age, and death.
